
Executive Director of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Bilqis Jumoke Sanni, has congratulated Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji on his emergence as the 6th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Sanni, in a statement on Thursday, described Prof. Oladimeji’s appointment as “a well-deserved recognition of an accomplished scholar and administrator who has dedicated his life to advancing knowledge and building academic institutions.”
“Professor Oladimeji’s record of achievements speaks volumes about his passion for education and capacity for leadership. His appointment is a testament to the value of hard work, integrity, and dedication,” Sanni said.
She praised the new Vice-Chancellor’s long-standing commitment to excellence, highlighting his distinguished service at Al-Hikmah University, where he has held key positions including pioneer Head of the Department of Islamic Studies, Registrar and Secretary to Council, Director of the Centre for Research, Industrial Linkages and International Collaboration (CRIIC), and Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
The NCDC Executive Director expressed confidence that Prof. Oladimeji’s tenure would usher in a new era of academic growth and infrastructural development at Al-Hikmah University.
She also commended the university’s Governing Council for what she described as “a wise and timely decision that will consolidate the university’s gains and position it for even greater successes.”
Sanni called on staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders of the university to give the new Vice-Chancellor maximum support to enable him to actualize his vision for the institution.
She subsequently noted that her relationship with Professor Oladimeji spans nearly three decades, describing him as not just a mentor and respected academic, but also a family friend who has consistently demonstrated humility, wisdom, and support over the years.
