The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has officially inaugurated the pilot phase of its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven business registration portal, marking a significant advancement in Nigeria’s digital corporate services.
The announcement was made by the Registrar-General of the CAC, Malam Hussaini Magaji, during the 2025 Stakeholders’ Forum held in Port Harcourt.
Describing the initiative as a “major milestone in Nigeria’s business facilitation agenda,” Magaji noted that the upgraded portal represents a complete overhaul of the existing Company Registration Portal (CRP), now equipped with cutting-edge features aimed at streamlining and accelerating the registration process.
According to him, the AI-powered platform now offers instant name reservation approvals, comparing the simplicity of the process to opening an email account. He added that the system can also suggest and immediately approve available business name alternatives.
Another key innovation is the option to register a business using only the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor. Magaji disclosed that the CAC is targeting a 30-minute turnaround time for business registration and certificate issuance, contingent upon real-time NIN validation.
