Rivers Women Declare Loyalty To Fubara, Celebrate Peace Deal

Women in Rivers State, under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS), have declared unwavering support for the suspended Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, affirming their readiness to stand by him through any political transition.

The declaration was made on Sunday during a thanksgiving service held in Port Harcourt to mark the recent reconciliation between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The women hailed the development as a significant step toward restoring political stability in the state.

Dressed in coordinated pink attire symbolising unity and celebration, the women sang, danced, and offered prayers of gratitude, describing the peace accord as a long-awaited answer to the state’s political crisis.

In a statement delivered at the event, one of the group’s leaders, Florence Itamunoala, a retired Director at the Ministry of Justice, expressed confidence in Governor Fubara’s leadership.

“He has called for peace, and we will follow him wherever he leads,” Itamunoala stated. “We believe in his vision for the state, and we are convinced that this reconciliation serves the greater good of the Rivers people.”

Pastor Nancy Nwankwo, spiritual leader of the group, led intercessory prayers for the governor’s full return to office, voicing optimism that the political impasse will soon be a thing of the past.

The group extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating the peace process and commended both Governor Fubara and Minister Wike for placing the state’s interests above political rivalry.

Describing the reconciliation as both a political breakthrough and a spiritual triumph, the women urged residents of Rivers State to remain calm, united, and hopeful as the state enters what they described as “a new season of stability and progress.”
