Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed the newly formed All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as a political gimmick lacking real substance or structure. In a post via his verified X handle on Friday, Keyamo criticised the move as an overhyped attempt to mimic the 2013 merger that birthed the All Progressives Congress (APC).
ADA, backed by the Nigerian National Coalition Group (NNCG), recently submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking registration ahead of the 2027 general elections. The request, dated June 19, was jointly signed by the party’s pro tem National Chairman, Akin Ricketts, and Secretary, Abdullahi Musa Elayo.
Reports suggest that prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir el-Rufai, are linked to the movement.
However, Keyamo described the effort as a hollow attempt lacking the political weight or unity to be deemed a coalition or merger.
“This is merely a routine application to register a new party. The noise around a so-called ‘coalition’ is exaggerated,” Keyamo wrote. “No major political party is involved. Comparing this to the 2013 APC merger is laughable—it’s a weak imitation, not a serious political force.”
He went on to say the effort reflects “psychological warfare” aimed at creating artificial public momentum without genuine political backing.
“In reality, this is just a group of individuals exercising their right to form a party. It’s no different from the dozens of political associations that surface every election cycle,” he added.
Keyamo concluded by branding the ADA movement “a disappointing anti-climax” that fails to match the hype it generated.
