Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said that the newly formed opposition coalition does not threaten President Bola Tinubu or the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
During an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Governor Sani said the coalition seeking registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has no real chance of defeating Tinubu in 2027.
The new political group, called the National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG), is led by former Senate President David Mark. Other members include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Sani dismissed the group’s chances, saying: “Go and write it down, Asiwaju has no threat.”
He also questioned the commitment of the coalition leaders to democracy, adding: “Most of the people talking now were not there when we were fighting for democracy, justice, and good governance.”
His comments come after El-Rufai recently said that President Tinubu and the APC had failed Nigerians and would not win the 2027 election. But Governor Sani strongly disagreed, insisting that Tinubu remains unshaken and that the coalition has no real influence.
