The ancient town of Offa in Kwara State transformed into a colorful canvas of culture, style, and creativity over the weekend, as it played host to the maiden edition of the African Fashion Fusion Show (AFFS).
The event, held on June 14 and 15, 2025, at the Imperial Event Center opposite Summit University, drew a distinguished crowd of royals, fashion enthusiasts, creatives, and community leaders, making it one of the most vibrant cultural gatherings in the region’s recent history.
Spearheaded as a celebration of African excellence in fashion and arts, the show featured a spectacular runway display by eight talented fashion designers. The creative houses that graced the catwalk included Styled by Uriel, Adire Oodua, Abbis’s Stylez, Oplus Closet, Lasavvy Chic, Adepele The Brand, Enny Wealth Fashion World, Isha’s Place, and House of Temmy.
Each designer showcased exquisite pieces that fused traditional African textiles and motifs with bold, modern aesthetics, capturing the audience with their originality and cultural depth.
In addition to fashion, the event also spotlighted visual artistry. One of the standout moments was the launch of a stunning collection of artworks by Asake Masterpiece, who also hosted a well-received art exhibition. Her works, deeply rooted in African identity and femininity, added another layer of meaning to the fusion concept of the show.
Ambassador Munirat Babalola described the African Fashion Fusion Show as “a historic convergence of youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and creative expression,” adding that it had created a platform for young talents to gain visibility and celebrate African heritage with pride.
Babalola, who is the Miss Amity Queen Moremi Ajasoro International 2024/2025 and serves as a Youth Ambassador for the LEAH Foundation said the event was history made.
She added, “with its seamless blend of royalty, tradition, entrepreneurship, and youth-driven creativity, the African Fashion Fusion Show not only celebrated African aesthetics but also positioned Offa as a growing hub for cultural and fashion innovation.
“I am optimistic that the success of this maiden edition will pave the way for an even more impactful annual showcase, further boosting local tourism, economic growth, and pride in African identity.”
As part of the celebration, several individuals and organizations were honored with Merit Awards for their exceptional contributions to fashion, media, entrepreneurship, and cultural advocacy. Notable awardees included CEO of Virus Tech, Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Streetstyle Interview, Asaaju Agency, LEAH Foundation, and Styled by Uriel who was recognized as Creative Director of the Year. Media and creative contributors such as The Same Toluwashe, Shebar Photography, AMW Media Team, and Dhemsy Videography were also recognized for their roles in covering and projecting the event. Others awarded included Toblizzy, Gleamy Luxe, Yagi So Swift, and Modella, who was officially crowned the Face of AFFS.
The show also attracted a roll call of high-profile guests. In attendance were Hon. (Alhaji) Sulaiman Olatunji Laaro Omituntun, the Chairman of Offa Local Government; Queen Iyanuoluwa Champion Atewogbola, the reigning Queen Moremi Ajasoro 2024; Mr. Saheed Lawal, Director of the MOK Foundation, who represented the foundation; Alhaja Saida; the CEO of Virus Tech; Sakariyau Abdullahi Abiola, founder of Arakunrin Foundation; and Alhaji Saheed Obalowu, the Mujahedeen of Offa and Oluomo of France. The newly crowned Face of AFFS, Abisola Mubarakah Adigun, also graced the event with poise and elegance.
