The Muslim community of Igboaran in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State is set to formally install Fadeelat Sheikh Ustaz Salman Zubair Taofeequl Khair, fondly known as Baba Gege-Ire, as the first grand Mufty of Igboaran Alayaki.
According to the organisers, the turbaning ceremony will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Igboaran Primary School Field, with the programme expected to commence by 10:00 a.m. prompt.
Sheikh Khair, a respected Islamic scholar and preacher, will be assuming the position as the first-ever Grand Mufti of the Igboaran Muslim community. It’s a role that signifies deep religious scholarship and responsibility in interpreting Islamic texts and guiding the faithful.
The community extended an open invitation to religious leaders, traditional rulers, government officials, and members of the public to witness what it described as a historic spiritual milestone.
The event, according to community leaders, marks a new chapter in religious leadership and scholarship in the area, with hopes that Sheikh Khair’s leadership would foster unity, learning, and moral uprightness within and beyond Igboaran.
