Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, urging him to intervene in what she describes as an alleged attempt on her life orchestrated by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In a petition dated May 15, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, accused Akpabio of spearheading a campaign of criminal defamation, cyber-stalking, conspiracy, and attempted assassination against her.
The petition, filed on her behalf by her legal counsel, Senator Ehiogie West-Idahosa (SAN), claims that the allegations are backed by compelling evidence, including public broadcasts, witness testimonies, media reports, and expert analyses.
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the available evidence points to a calculated retaliatory campaign allegedly executed by Akpabio, leveraging proxies and state resources to target her.
She further urged the Minister to scrutinize the role of third-party collaborators who publicly supported the defamatory broadcasts, suggesting that their involvement should be investigated to determine their awareness and participation in the conspiracy.
“We maintain that the actions against our client amount to a criminal enterprise that violates multiple laws. We respectfully urge your office to thoroughly investigate the contents of this petition and ensure that justice is swiftly served, irrespective of the status of those involved in Nigerian society,” her counsel, Idahosa, stated.
