Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso is poised to be deported from South Africa after opting to leave the country following his re-arrest last week.
According to reports from the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and Newsroom Afrika, Omotoso is scheduled to depart today, Sunday, May 18, 2025. Footage aired by the stations showed the pastor conversing with an immigration official at the airport.
Details regarding the exact time of his departure from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport remain unclear.
Omotoso, 66, was acquitted in April of 32 charges, including rape, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking, after spending eight years in prison. However, just weeks after his acquittal, he was re-arrested by immigration authorities in East London on May 10, 2025.
