HRM Oba Abdulfatai Jimoh Olabode, Eleju of Igbonla Joins Ancestors

….Oloro of Oro Kingdom, Irepodun LG Chair Mourn

The people of Igbonla Kingdom in Kwara State have been thrown into mourning following the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Abdulfatai Jimoh Olabode, the revered Eleju of Igbonla Kingdom.

The respected monarch, known for his academic excellence and deep-rooted commitment to traditional leadership, joined his ancestors, leaving behind a legacy of service, wisdom, and development.

In a tribute, the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II, described the demise of Oba Olabode as a significant loss not only to the people of Igbonla and Kwara State but also to Nigeria as a whole.

Oba Oyatoye extolled the late monarch’s unique ability to balance his academic prowess with his traditional responsibilities.

“As a lover of academia, he was an excellent teacher during his lifetime, imparting knowledge at one of Nigeria’s leading institutions. A distinction that fittingly earned him the title of ‘Academy King’,” he said.

The Oloro further praised Oba Olabode’s enduring impact on community development, intelligence, and leadership.

“I join well-wishers across the globe and the good people of Igbonla Kingdom in mourning the loss of this bold, wise, and intelligent monarch, who contributed significantly to the development of the Igbonla community and its environs through his wealth of experience and unmatched passion,” Oba Oyatoye added.

In a separate condolence message, the Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu, also expressed his deep sorrow over the monarch’s passing.

“Oba Olabode Jimoh was a symbol of peace, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the progress of his community. His reign was marked by unity, development, and the promotion of our rich cultural heritage,” Hon. Yakubu stated.

The council chairman extended his condolences to the royal family of Igbonla, the people of the community, and the Irepodun Local Government Traditional Council under the leadership of HRM Oba Ismail Atoloye Alebiosu, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo.

“To the sons and daughters of Igbonla community, I share in your grief and pray that the Almighty grants you strength during this painful time. May the legacies of the late monarch continue to inspire future generations,” he added.

The passing of HRM Oba Abdulfatai Jimoh Olabode marks the end of a remarkable era of visionary leadership in Igbonla. His memory is set to live on in the hearts of those he served with honour, intellect, and dignity.
