A Nigerian couple recently unconventionally tied the knot, holding their traditional wedding virtually as the bride, who lives abroad, joined the ceremony online.
Despite the thousands of miles separating them, love found a way to unite the pair. Since the bride couldn’t travel back to Nigeria, the couple decided to celebrate their wedding with a digital twist.
In a video shared online, the groom is seen dressed in elegant traditional attire, seated beside an empty chair adorned with the bride’s portrait. The bride joined the celebration virtually, while guests livestreamed her joyous dancing from afar.
The unusual wedding setup sparked reactions on social media:
@TemT0065: “This is not new; I once saw a naming ceremony in Lagos where the baby wasn’t even present.”
@kirahdollz: “I could never have this kind of wedding, no matter the situation.”
@Csokonkwo: “I don’t understand how someone could miss such a significant event and just blame distance. She didn’t even dress up for it.”
@Utdterrain: “Maybe she’s multitasking while the wedding is going on.”
@Onungeneeze: “Looks like the Chief Bridesmaid might handle the honeymoon duties too!”
@temitoayoo: “I attended a wedding like this years ago. The groom wasn’t there, and the bride danced with his portrait. It felt so surreal.”
