A Nigerian man has raised concerns after alleging that he was followed by a police vehicle simply for buying a bag of rice.

The man shared the incident in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), where he expressed frustration and fear over being trailed by a police bus shortly after his purchase. In the footage, he showcased the items he bought, including the bag of rice, while voicing his disbelief.

He said in Pidgin English, “Because say I go buy bag of rice, police motor dey follow me for back,” indicating his confusion over why a simple purchase would attract police attention.

The video quickly gained traction, drawing reactions from users who speculated about the reasons behind the police’s actions.
