An 18-year-old boy in Anambra State has reportedly impregnated at least 10 girls, sparking outrage and disbelief in the community.
The shocking revelation was made by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, during a live video on social media. According to Obinabo, the situation was brought to her attention on Tuesday.
Among the pregnant girls are his master’s daughter and salesgirl, both of whom he impregnated just three months into his apprenticeship. This led to him being sent back to his village. Surprisingly, within just two months of his return, he allegedly impregnated eight more girls in the community.
Sharing her frustration, Obinabo said: “I need advice from the public because this is beyond my capacity. His mother came to my office crying, saying that every time she sees a girl approaching their house, her heart skips. She’s pleading for help.”
The commissioner, who expressed concern over the boy’s seemingly uncanny ability to lure the girls, revealed that she asked him how he managed it. His response? He simply tells them he loves them and promises marriage once he becomes wealthy.
Obinabo, however, did not disclose the boy’s community or the mother’s name, citing privacy concerns. She concluded by admitting that the matter is overwhelming due to the boy’s age and the number of girls involved, adding that she urgently needs public suggestions for a solution.
