A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State and close ally of former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has suggested that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not contest the 2027 presidential election.
Eze, in a statement made available to the press, hinted at growing political uncertainties surrounding the next general election, stating that “2027 will come with surprises,” particularly if foreign governments—like the United States—act on alleged files concerning President Tinubu.
Amid this uncertainty, Eze revealed that Nigerians have continued to reach out to him, pressing for clarity on Amaechi’s political direction and possible interest in the 2027 race.
“Every day, I’m inundated with calls and messages asking if Amaechi is ready to run in 2027, whether he has declared interest, and what his plans are for the future,” Eze said.
The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) stressed that many Nigerians view Amaechi as a beacon of leadership capable of rescuing the country from its current challenges.
“Nigeria is in dire need of responsible leadership. The current administration seems more focused on manipulating the system to retain power than addressing the pressing issues of economic hardship, hunger, insecurity, and lawlessness,” he said.
According to Eze, “This is not democracy. It’s a dangerous deviation from the ideals of governance.”
He described Amaechi as a “national asset” whose record of public service positions him as a strong and credible contender for the presidency.
“Amaechi is known for his courage, vision, and commitment to national development. If there’s anyone capable of restoring hope and driving meaningful progress, it is him,” he added.
Eze concluded by reaffirming that Amaechi will soon address the growing speculation around his political future.
