The Kebbi State House of Assembly has resolved to summon the Chairman of Dandi Local Government Area, Dr. Mansur Isah, along with his council members, for failing to appear during a scheduled oversight visit by a joint committee of the House.
Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Salihu Mai Kasuwa Dangoje, disclosed this during the committee’s visit to the Dandi Local Government Secretariat in Kamba.
Dangoje, who led members of the Joint Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning, and Due Process, expressed disappointment over the absence of the council leadership, despite prior notice of the visit.
He said the committee intended to inspect projects approved by Governor Nasir Idris but was only received by the vice chairman and a few directors who could not provide sufficient information, preventing the team from proceeding to the project sites.
Dangoje stated that Dandi was the only local government area among the 17 visited where such a challenge was encountered. He added that the House would formally summon the chairman and his team to provide necessary explanations.
The committee is conducting a state-wide oversight exercise to evaluate the execution of local government projects and ensure proper use of public resources.
