The sex trafficking trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to begin on Monday, May 5, 2025, in a federal courtroom in New York, with jury selection expected to start that morning.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. He recently turned down a plea deal from federal prosecutors.
The trial date was confirmed on Thursday during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who will preside over the proceedings. Jury selection, known as voir dire, will include privacy protections for potential jurors, particularly those who may disclose past experiences with sexual or domestic abuse.
Judge Subramanian aims to seat a jury of 12, along with six alternates, within three days.
The Grammy-winning producer faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, all of which he denies. Defence attorney Marc Agnifilo confirmed that plea negotiations had taken place but said his client ultimately declined the offer. Prosecutor Maurene Comey noted that the deal would have included a reduced sentence compared to the potential penalties if convicted on all charges.
The trial is expected to draw intense public and media attention.
