Olomu of Omu-Aran Convenes Security Meeting On Rising Insecurity, Meets Fulani, Bororo Leaders

In a proactive move to address the growing concerns of crime and insecurity within Omu-Aran and its environs, the Olomu-in-Council, led by Oba AbdulRaheem Oladele Adeoti, Olomu Efon II, in collaboration with the Omu-Aran Development Association (ODA), held a high-level security meeting with the Bororo and Fulani communities residing in the town.

The meeting focused on devising sustainable solutions to the challenges of kidnapping and the ongoing clashes between farmers and herders. During the session, participants proposed various suggestions aimed at restoring peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property.

In a decisive statement, His Royal Majesty Oba Adeoti expressed deep concern over the influx of unfamiliar individuals into the Bororo settlements. He directed that all new, unrecognized faces among the Bororo community should immediately vacate Omu-Aran and the surrounding farm settlements.

He emphasized that the fear of abduction is preventing many residents and farmers from returning to their farmlands. While acknowledging that many of the recent kidnapping incidents occurred in neighbouring towns such as Eleyin, he insisted that any future occurrence, regardless of location, would carry consequences for the Fulani and Bororo leadership. “Enough is enough. Any act of kidnapping henceforth will attract full responsibility on the part of the community leaders involved,” the monarch declared.

The chiefs and community leaders present commended the Olomu for his bold stance and reaffirmed their support for his efforts to protect the people of Omu-Aran. To reinforce the town’s security measures, the Olomu-in-Council established several strategic security committees tasked with intelligence gathering and community surveillance. These committees are expected to report their findings at the next security meeting.

As the Olomu wisely reminded all present, “Security is a collective responsibility.” Every resident is therefore urged to remain vigilant and contribute actively to keeping Omu-Aran safe.
