Nigeria’s vibrant music scene will witness the crowning of new stars today, Sunday, April 27, 2025, as the 17th edition of the prestigious Headies Awards takes place.
The highly anticipated ceremony, which honours excellence across a wide range of genres including Afrobeats, R&B, Hip-Hop, Inspirational, and Rap, will be held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos.
One of the night’s most closely contested categories is the Next Rated award, where rising stars Qing Madi, Shallipopi, OdumoduBlvck, Ayo Maff, and Nasboi are fiercely competing. The winner of this coveted category, which spotlights the most promising new acts, will receive a brand-new SUV.
Nominees will also vie for top honours in categories such as Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year, among others.
Formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards, the Headies will feature live performances and special tributes to awardees. The event will be broadcast live on HIP TV (Channel 324 on DStv and Channel 22 on GOtv) and streamed on YouTube.
