The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly vandalising and stealing underground electrical cables at the Gateway Stadium in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Aliyu Umaru, was apprehended around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, by officers attached to the Ilaro Area Command during a routine patrol.

The arrest was announced in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf.

According to the statement, Umaru was caught in the act and, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime. A quantity of the stolen cables, along with a cutlass and a pair of scissors believed to have been used in the operation, were recovered from him.

“Officers on patrol noticed suspicious activity at the Gateway Stadium. On closer inspection, they found the suspect actively vandalising and stealing underground cables. He was immediately arrested at the scene,” the statement read.

Ganzallo added that the suspect and the recovered items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Ilaro Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
