Renowned Nigerian gospel singer and pastor, Bolaji Olarewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, has passed away.
His family confirmed his death in a statement issued on Saturday, stating that the artiste died on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025, following a brief illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B,’ a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community and the music industry,” the statement read. “Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness.”
The family added that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
An ordained pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Big Bolaji was also a well-known radio talk show host. He began his music ministry with the group J’apha and recently marked his 50th birthday.
