Offa Football Club, one of the contenders in the Nationwide League One (NLO), has officially unveiled its coaching crew and full squad ahead of the commencement of the 2025 NLO season.
The unveiling ceremony, held on Wednesday, April 16, at the Offa Descendants Union (ODU) Hall, attracted top football stakeholders and dignitaries from Offa, Kwara State and beyond.
The event also marked a renewed commitment to grassroots sports development in the Local Government Area, as the Executive Chairman of Offa LG, Hon. Sulaiman Olatunji Omotuntun, pledged continuous support for the team and other sporting activities in the area.
Speaking during the unveiling, Hon. Omituntun commended the club for creating a platform to empower youth and reduce social vices through sports.
He emphasized the need for unity within the team and urged the players and coaches to see themselves as one big family working towards a common goal.
“This is part of our measurable progress in youth and sports development. I urge the players, coaches, and management to remain focused and work hard to uplift the image of Offa through football,” he said.
He also appreciated the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for prioritising the renovation and modernisation of the Oloffa Stadium in the 2025 state budget, describing the move as a boost to sports infrastructure in the region.
The Chairman of Offa Football Club, Alhaji Azeez Olarenwaju Omoluabi, expressed gratitude to the Local Government leadership for its unwavering support.
He reiterated the club’s readiness to make Offa proud in the forthcoming NLO season, calling on stakeholders to also support other NLO clubs and sporting disciplines within the LGA.
Alhaji Omoluabi also announced that Offa FC is planning a friendly match with the Flying Eagles in Abuja after the Egypt 2025 AFCON championship, seeking further support from the ODU and local government to actualize the plan.
During the ceremony, the club unveiled its Head Coach, Folorunsho Stephen John, and his Assistant Coach, Bola Opoola.
A total of 14 new players were presented, joining 18 retained players from the previous season, bringing the squad to 32 registered players.
Coach Folorunsho expressed his excitement about leading Offa FC, noting that the role offers him the freedom to apply his tactical knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the team’s success.
Prominent personalities present at the event included Alhaji (Chief) Lanre Shittu, the Otun Akoni of Offa; Chairman of ODU (Home Branch), Alhaji Tajudeen Ibilola Bello; ODU National Vice President I, and Hon. Mustapha Sarafa, Speaker of the Offa Local Government Council.
Others in attendance were the Chairman of Offa Football Council, Alhaji Wasiu Bisi Lawal; Secretary Mr. Olaolu Oyawoye; football stakeholders such as Muideen Adebisi, Lekan Olatinwo (Chairman of Leycon FA), and Michu.
The 2025 NLO season is scheduled to kick off later this month in Ilorin, with 17 clubs, including Offa FC, set to compete for honours.
