The Deputy Majority Leader of the Offa Local Government Legislative Council and Councillor representing Ojomu South East Ward, Hon. Iyabo Ajibade, has congratulated Alhaji (Dr.) Najeem Usman Yasin on the occasion of his 69th birthday.
In a statement issued in Offa on Tuesday, Hon. Ajibade described the celebrant as a respected statesman and a pride of Offa land whose decades of leadership in labour and community service have left indelible marks at the local, national, and international levels.
Alhaji Yasin, the Bashorun of Offa and Makama of Gusau, currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). He is also the Global Vice President and Africa Regional President of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), a global body representing over 700 unions in the transport sector.
He previously held several notable positions, including National President of the NURTW, Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and President of the Offa Descendants Union (ODU), where he played instrumental roles in organisational reform and community development.
Hon. Ajibade praised Alhaji Yasin’s leadership record, describing him as “a man of vision and integrity who has consistently demonstrated commitment to workers’ welfare, grassroots development, and social progress.”
She further stated that his influence in labour circles, particularly in advocating for transport workers’ rights and improved welfare systems, has earned him national recognition and global respect.
Hon. Ajibade concluded her message by wishing the elder statesman continued good health, long life, and greater service to humanity.
