Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola took to Instagram on Thursday to address a comment made by her colleague, Eniola Badmus, which she deemed inappropriate and insensitive.
Aiyeola responded to the remark in a video, expressing her disappointment at Badmus’ comment which read, “Ope, where is your front hair?”
“I understand the way social media is, and that there are a lot of animals in human form. I have only decided to reply Eniola Badmus because of the comment she dropped on one of my videos,” Aiyeola began.
She went on to criticise Badmus’ remark, given her past experiences with body-shaming saying, “You Eniola used to be an image of ridicule and body shaming on social media. To now think that you, Eniola, who have experienced the hurt and pain of body shaming could come under my video…
“You have never helped in promoting anything that has to do with me. You rarely comment on my videos, you rarely even like my videos. I’m not offended by it because I rarely do the same to some of my colleagues.
“But for you, Eniola Badmus, to come under my post and drop this comment. I am not ignorant of the fact that there are so many evil people out there, but not somebody of your calibre, especially somebody who has experienced the hurt and the pain of being body shamed.”
“What exactly is funny? What is that statement for?” Aiyeola questioned.
“You are funny? You are beautiful? Eniola, you see yourself in the mirror and all you see is beauty? You think a human-based physical appearance is what beauty is all about? You are ignorant. The only thing you have expressed is your ignorance. Not only have you expressed your ignorance, Eniola Badmus, you have also expressed exactly who you are and what you stand for. And I pity the people who have you around as their friend,” she added.
Aiyeola emphasised that the comment was unwarranted given that both of them rarely interact with each other and expressed her disappointment in Badmus for making such a remark, especially as a public figure.
She said, “We don’t fight, you don’t know whether I exist, I don’t even know whether you exist. You’ve never celebrated me. I’ve never celebrated you. For you to come under my post, drop this comment. You have only shown the entire world what you are made of, the true you. And for that, I pity you.
“You don’t know what true love is all about. That’s the only thing I can say. You don’t know what genuine new love is all about. That is why people like you, Eniola Badmus, especially people who have experienced something. When it looks like God has answered your prayer, you’ve done surgery. You’ve looked in the mirror. You feel you look beautiful. And the only validation you can give yourself is coming under my post to drop this. Public figure, somebody who should be fighting for the youth.”
She pointed out that Badmus holds a political position and has the trust of the youth, which, in Aiyeola’s opinion, should come with more responsibility.
“Somebody who has been placed in a political, who the government has trusted to place you in a political position. Somebody who youth have trust to follow you. Anyway, I know what Nigerians stand for,” she added.
The actress went tough when she described Badmus as a zombie for acting like someone without a heart.
“I would classify Eniola Badmus, apart from being an…, and apart from being ignorant, I would also classify you as a zombie. Without conscience. Without a heart. There’s nobody they cannot eat. There’s nobody they cannot fight with You don’t have to offend them, they’ll just grab you.
“You are a zombie. And once again, I pity wonderful people who think you are a… being and have surrounded you for whatever reason. You will reap the work of your hands. But for you to come on social media and make a public shame of yourself, that’s your problem.”
Aiyeola concluded by showing gratitude to her supporters, especially those who have expressed concern about her hair loss, reassuring them that she does not need their recommendations.
She said, “Thank you, I don’t need it. God bless you. I am beautifully and wonderfully made. I am surrounded by beautiful people who love me the way I am.”
“Thank you so much for the love. People who appreciate me for who I am, who love me just the way I am and how I look, no matter how far my head goes, no matter even if God forbid, tomorrow I lose this arm or I become so mega big. God bless you. I appreciate you.”
Badmus has not responded to Aiyeola’s post as of the time of filing this report.
