A woman in Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has taken to social media to demand justice after alleging that a police officer stabbed her father during a confrontation at their home.
In a video that has since gone viral, the woman claimed the officer—reportedly an orderly to a local government chairman—attacked her father following a dispute involving her younger brother and his female classmate. According to her, the classmate reported the matter to her boyfriend, who then involved the police.
She recounted that two police officers arrived at their residence under the pretext of making an arrest. A heated exchange ensued when the officers confronted her elder brother, who questioned the basis for the arrest. Things escalated quickly, she said, and one of the officers began assaulting her brother, prompting him to call for their father.
“My dad came out to intervene and asked why his son was being attacked,” she said in the video. “Then, one of the officers suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen. Thankfully, my dad managed to shield himself, but the knife cut his hand badly.”
She alleged that the officer responsible for the stabbing is attached to the Ise-Orun Police Division and remains free alongside his colleague and the civilian who called them in.
“They’re walking around like nothing happened,” she said. “They said because he’s a police officer, there’s a procedure before they can arrest or detain him. But if it were me, I’d be in jail by now.”
In another part of the video, she called for the officer’s dismissal, expressing frustration over the lack of action from authorities. “He’s a known menace in the area, and people have been complaining about him. He’s protected because of his position as a chairman’s orderly,” she said.
She added: “Look at what they did to my dad, an innocent man who committed no crime. All of this because of an argument between two classmates. This is a disgrace to the police force.”
Calling on the President, the Commissioner of Police, and the general public, the woman urged Nigerians to amplify her plea for justice. “This is a gross injustice. If we keep quiet, things like this will continue. My father nearly lost his life. This must not be swept under the rug.”
The incident has sparked outrage online, with many demanding an investigation and accountability for the officers involved.
