Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has revealed how former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun twice demolished his cement plant in Itori, Ewekoro LGA, frustrating its establishment.
In a viral video seen by NEWS BULLETIN on Monday, Dangote explained that he abandoned the project due to these setbacks until the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Speaking during a recent visit to Governor Abiodun, Dangote said:
“The factory we are visiting now in Itori is because of His Excellency. It was demolished twice. We started building it, and Governor Amosun demolished it. The second time we restarted, he demolished it again, including the fence. So we left. But now, with my brother Dapo Abiodun, we are coming back.”
The project, a six-million-tonne-per-year cement plant, is set to make Ogun State the largest cement producer in Nigeria.
Amosun served as Ogun State governor from May 29, 2011, to May 29, 2019, before being succeeded by Abiodun.
