The Abia State government has imposed an immediate ban on the placement of loose flex materials on fences and electric poles across the state.
In a statement signed by Hon. (Mrs) Dibunma Victoria Onwubiko, MD/CEO of the Abia State Signages Agency (ABSSAA), the government explained that the decision was prompted by the frequent displacement of such materials, which often end up clogging drainage systems.
“The general public is hereby directed to refrain from the unsightly practice of hanging loose flex materials on fences and poles, as they tend to fall and obstruct drainage channels,” the statement read.
Additionally, ABSSAA instructed owners of marked, unwanted boards to remove them immediately to maintain cleanliness in the state.
To ensure efficient operations, the agency reminded all stakeholders in the signage industry to fulfill their annual renewal fee obligations by making payments to the designated IGR account using their ABSIN numbers.
“We urge all industry stakeholders to pay their annual renewal fees through the designated IGR account with their ABSIN numbers to support the agency’s effective operations,” the statement added.
ABSSAA also issued a stern warning that defaulters who fail to comply with these directives will face sanctions.
