The Palace of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland has declared a six-hour curfew in Ilesa as part of the coronation rites for Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland.
The curfew will take effect from 6 PM on Monday, March 10, 2025, to 6 AM on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, during which movement within the town will be restricted.
According to Isaac Haastrup, media aide to the monarch, the curfew is a traditional requirement as the king visits the Ipebi, a sacred place of seclusion for final coronation rituals.
Residents are urged to adhere to the directive as part of the cultural and traditional practices of Ijesaland.
