Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of the people of Rivers State.
He emphasized that this dedication is evident in the revitalization of the Rumuodomaya Fire Service Sub-Station into a modern, fully operational facility.
Speaking at the inauguration of the station in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Friday, Fubara assured residents that the upgraded fire service would provide a swift response to emergencies, ensuring better protection of lives and property in Rumuodomaya and its surrounding communities.
Expressing his excitement, the governor noted that this was the third fire service station commissioned in recent days, demonstrating his administration’s efforts to improve safety and public infrastructure across the state.
“We can feel your support here,” Fubara said. “I also appreciate the unwavering trust of the good people of Rivers State. You have continued to stand with us on the path of truth, and I want to assure you that we will keep doing what is right to make life better and move our state forward.”
Inaugurating the project, elder statesman Chief Hanny Woko commended Fubara’s leadership, stating that a state without functional fire service stations leaves its citizens vulnerable. He praised the governor for his commitment to securing lives and property, particularly in Ikwerre land and Rivers State as a whole.
Providing an overview of the project, Rivers State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Samuel Anya, revealed that the fire station had been abandoned since its initial construction under the Chibuike Amaechi administration. However, Governor Fubara’s intervention ensured its rehabilitation, equipping it with 54 offices, staff quarters, new fire trucks, and a 45,000-litre water tank.
Obio/Akpor Local Government’s Head of Administration, Mr. Ichechi Amadi, also lauded the initiative, stating that the improved facilities and newly acquired fire trucks would enhance emergency response, preventing the devastating losses that previous fire incidents had caused over the years.
