As part of activities marking World Women’s Day, Toyin Joseph Oluwaseyi, Director of Zion Study Centre, has called on the Nigerian government to take urgent and proactive steps to address the alarming rise in femicide across the country.
Oluwaseyi emphasized the need for comprehensive policies that not only protect women but also raise awareness and educate the public to prevent violence against females. He stressed that collaboration among government agencies, law enforcement, and community organizations is crucial to tackling this issue and ensuring the safety of women and girls.
Speaking during his weekly discussion series, Echoes from Zion, held at Zion Towers in Kubwa, Abuja, Oluwaseyi reiterated his institution’s commitment to equipping young women with the knowledge and skills needed to protect themselves from potential dangers.
He also highlighted the indispensable role of women in shaping society, citing historical and contemporary female figures who have contributed significantly to nation-building.
