Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has suspended the Acting Head of Service and Permanent Secretary for Establishment, Salisu Mustapha, over allegations of salary deductions and non-payment of civil servants’ wages.
In a statement released on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, it was confirmed that Mustapha has also been directed to step aside from his role as Permanent Secretary, Establishment, under the Office of the Head of Service, to allow for an unhindered investigation.
To maintain administrative stability, Governor Yusuf has approved the appointment of Malam Umar Muhammad Jalo, the Permanent Secretary of REPA, as the new Acting Head of Service pending the conclusion of the ongoing probe.
Reaffirming his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on financial misconduct, the governor warned that anyone found guilty of fraudulent activities would face strict consequences.
The investigative committee, led by Abdulkadir Abdussalam, has been given seven days to identify the cause of the salary irregularities and submit its findings.
Mustapha had only recently assumed the role of Acting Head of Service after the substantive Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, proceeded on medical leave for treatment in India.
