Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is scheduled to swear in the newly elected local government council chairmen on Sunday, February 23.
This information was shared by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, through his X account on Saturday evening.
Badmus announced that the swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Government House in Osogbo, the state’s capital. He stated, “The newly elected local government council chairmen will be sworn in by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, tomorrow, 23/02/2025, at 12:00 noon prompt at the Government House, Osogbo.”
This announcement comes in the wake of controversies surrounding the elections, which took place on Saturday, February 22. The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all local government and councillorship positions in the recently concluded local government elections.
OSSIEC Chairman Hashim Abioye made the declaration during a Facebook Live broadcast on Saturday evening, revealing that PDP candidates secured all councillorship seats across the 332 wards in the state and also triumphed in the chairmanship elections for all 30 local government areas.
In contrast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized the election, commending citizens for boycotting what they labeled an illegal local government council election.
