Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has surrendered to the Lagos State Police Command, following his declaration as a wanted person in connection with a physical assault case.
Portable presented himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, marking a significant development in the case against him. He will now be escorted to Ogun State, where he will be transferred into local police custody.
The singer’s sudden surrender comes after he surprisingly alleged that he was undergoing treatment for mental health issues at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta. He even referred to himself as a “madman”, in a plea for leniency to both the Nigerian public and the Ogun State Government.
Portable’s wanted declaration was a result of allegations that he physically assaulted three staff members from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development at the Ota Zonal Office.
It’s unclear what sparked the physical altercation, but Portable’s actions have put a significant amount of pressure on him, ultimately leading to his decision to turn himself in. The singer will now face the consequences of his alleged actions, as the police investigate the incident further.
