The federal government has announced the resolution of the passport printing crisis at Nigeria’s consulates in Atlanta and New York, USA.
The development follows the directive of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in January 2025, instructing the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to deliver new passport printers to both consulates after concerns were raised by Nigerians in the diaspora.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Babatunde Alao, confirmed that the machines were delivered and installed on February 18, 2025.
“The ministry remains committed to innovation and improved service delivery. The installation of these new printers demonstrates our dedication to addressing the needs of Nigerians at home and abroad,” Alao stated.
He added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s **Renewed Hope** agenda, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to enhancing the lives of Nigerians.
“With these new printers, Nigerians in Atlanta and New York can expect a faster and more efficient passport application process,” he concluded.
