Benue New Logo

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has officially unveiled the state’s new logo, also known as the State Seal, despite public criticism over its religious symbolism.

Prior to the unveiling, the move sparked controversy, with critics accusing the governor of attempting to Christianize the state by incorporating a cross into the design. Detractors argued that Benue belongs to people of all faiths and questioned the relevance of the logo change, insisting that the government should focus on more pressing issues.

However, in a statement on Saturday, the governor’s Special Assistant on Social Media, James Asortar, defended the redesign, stating:

“The newly designed logo reflects the rich cultural heritage and aspirations of the people of Benue State, emphasizing core values such as peace, prosperity, and inclusivity. It serves as a visual representation of the state’s commitment to fostering a harmonious and thriving community.”
