The Zamfara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire incident in Kaura Namoda town, which claimed the lives of 17 almajiris.
In a statement signed by Council Chairman Ibrahim Musa Maizare and Secretary Ibrahim Ahmad Gada, the NUJ extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the entire community.
“The loss of these young lives is a profound tragedy that has left a deep impact on the community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families and those injured in the fire,” the statement read.
The NUJ emphasized the need for discussions on safety measures and support systems for vulnerable groups to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
“As a union committed to societal well-being, we urge proactive steps to enhance safety and protection for at-risk individuals,” the statement continued.
Standing in solidarity with the Kaura Namoda community, the NUJ pledged its support during this difficult time. “May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may the community find strength and healing,” it concluded.
