A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the stabbing murder of fellow teenager Harvey Willgoose at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield, northern England.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced the charges on Wednesday, following the fatal attack that took place on Monday. Due to his age, the suspect cannot be publicly named.

Willgoose’s grieving family released a statement expressing their devastation: “We are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful boy, ‘Harvey Goose’.” Mourners have placed flowers and balloons at the school in his memory.

The incident is the latest in a string of knife crimes involving young people in the UK. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has labeled knife violence a “national crisis.”

Just a week prior to the attack, the school had warned parents about escalating “threats of violence” among students.

The accused is set to appear at Sheffield Youth Court later on Wednesday. He also faces charges of possessing a bladed article and affray.
