Unidentified gunmen stormed the residence of Alhaji Moshood on Saturday evening at Owoyale Agbamu, along Oro-Agbamu Road in Ajase Ward 2, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting him, his wife, and his brother.
The abduction was widely shared by community members on social media, urging stakeholders to intervene for the safe return of the victims.
“Alhaji Moshood, from Owoyale Agbamu, was kidnapped along with his family members yesterday night, 1/2/2025, around 9 pm at his residence in Owoyale Agbamu, Ajase Ward 2, Irepodun Local Government of Kwara State. This information needs adequate attention from all,” read a terse message circulating online.
Vanguard Correspondent gathered that there had been no communication from the kidnappers at the time of filing this report.
Confirming the incident on Sunday evening, Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, issued a statement:
*”The Kwara State Police Command is aware of an unfortunate kidnap incident that occurred on 1st February 2025 at about 2200 hours.
“It was reported that unknown armed men stormed Owoyale village along Oro-Agbamu Road and forcefully whisked three persons to an unknown location: Alhaji Moshood, Alhaji Abdulkazeem Owoyale (siblings), and Alhaji Moshood’s wife.
“The police, alongside vigilante and hunter groups, have swung into action, combing the forest to rescue the three victims unhurt and apprehend the criminals behind this act.
“Further developments on the outcome will be communicated as it progresses,”* the statement concluded.
