The Jigawa State Government has launched a free education programme for all female indigenes in state-owned institutions, covering all levels from primary school to PhD.
The initiative, championed by Governor Umar Namadi, is designed to empower women and promote gender equality in the state.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Isa Chamo, stated, “This programme marks a significant step in advancing gender equality and empowering women through education. By removing financial barriers, the government is enabling women to make informed decisions, improve their lives, and contribute to community development.”
Prof. Chamo further explained that the initiative aims to encourage more girls to pursue education without financial constraints hindering their aspirations.
The Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Scholarships Board, Alhaji Sa’idu Magaji, reiterated the government’s dedication to the programme, saying, “We have been working tirelessly to ensure its successful implementation. Education is the key to unlocking the potential of our female students, and we are committed to supporting them at every stage.”
This initiative represents a major investment in the future of Jigawa’s women and girls, empowering them to play significant roles in the state’s development.
