In a major step towards advancing Nigeria’s industrialisation, Alpha Grip Management Company (AGMC) and China National Chemical Engineering International Corporation Ltd. (CNCEC) have formalised an agreement to develop the $20 billion Ogidigben Gas Revolution Industrial Park in Delta State.

The deal, signed at CNCEC headquarters in China, highlights the growing strategic partnership between Nigeria and China. The event was attended by Joseph Tegbe, Director General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), reinforcing the nations’ commitment to mutually beneficial economic collaborations.

This agreement builds on the outcomes of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders stressed the importance of partnerships promoting industrialisation, infrastructure, and energy security across Africa.

CNCEC President Li Zhenyu expressed confidence in the collaboration, stating:
“Nigeria has always been a priority market for CNCEC. We are dedicated to supporting its economic growth and industrialisation.” He referenced CNCEC’s successful work on the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery Complex as a foundation for this new initiative.

Joseph Tegbe, representing the Nigerian government, reiterated the administration’s dedication to strengthening ties with China. He highlighted President Tinubu’s strong support for the project, which aligns with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda focusing on job creation and economic diversification. “This partnership is a testament to Nigeria’s proactive approach to collaborating with global leaders to achieve our developmental goals,” Tegbe said.

AGMC President Sheikh Mohamed Bayorh acknowledged the positive impact of President Tinubu’s reforms, which have enhanced Nigeria’s investment climate. He stated:
“The Ogidigben Gas Industrial Park has the potential to become a transformative force for Africa’s energy and industrial sectors.”

Bayorh also praised the contributions of key stakeholders, including Minister of State for Petroleum Ekperikpe Ekpo, NNPCL’s leadership, and other industry players.

The Ogidigben Gas Revolution Industrial Park will feature power plants, fertiliser and petrochemical facilities, and aluminium smelters, creating thousands of jobs and transforming Nigeria’s economic landscape. Bayorh described it as “Africa’s future gas city.”

With a consortium of investors managing over $100 billion in assets, AGMC and CNCEC aim to ensure the project’s timely implementation. Both parties remain confident that this initiative will drive Nigeria’s industrialisation and energy development.
