A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Kwara State, Honourable Marooph Bukoye Bintinlaye has described the inter-ethnic clash that happened in Ajasse-Ippo, Irepodun local government area of the state as worrisome.
It would be recalled that there was a clash between members of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and Fulani traders in Kara Market last Friday.
Chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, Ali Mohammed Jounwiro, alleged the OPC killed nine cow dealers.
In his reaction on Monday, Honourable Marooph Bintinlaye said the unfortunate incident which led to loss of lives and properties calls for concerns as it reflected disintegration in the state.
“It is shocking to that the incident in Kara Market in Ajasse-Ippo occurred. Kwara as a state has diverse ethics, religions and cultures and these have been loving peaceful since the creation of the state. More worrisome about the Kara incident is that till now nobody has the whole information as to what transpired due to different people giving different accounts.
“This is just one of many. We have had a religious experience in hijab crisis that happened in Oyun Baptist High School in Ijagbo, Kwara State. And if these situations are not docked, they would degenerate into conflagrations,” he said
Bintinlaye thereafter prayed that God provide the entire Ajasse-Ippo the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable lost, and the souls of the fallen rest in peace.
He also commiserated with His Royal Highness, Oba Ismail Yahaya Atoloye, the Olupo of Ajasse-Ippo and the entire family of the deceased.
