The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved six new academic programs for Plateau State University Bokkos (PLASU).
During the university’s 92nd regular Senate meeting on January 10, 2025, Acting Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, announced the approval. The newly accredited programs include degrees in Medical Sciences (MBBS), Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharm D.), Statistics (B.Sc.), and Religious Studies (B.A.).
Additionally, the university received endorsements from professional bodies for its new programs in Law and Nursing Sciences.
Prof. Best expressed pride in the milestone, stating, “We have successfully secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all these programs.”
The approval follows a series of resource verification visits conducted by the NUC in 2024 to evaluate the university’s readiness to offer the new courses.
Prof. Best attributed the achievement to the unwavering support of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
“I sincerely thank the Governor for his steadfast support in advancing the university’s growth. This success would not have been possible without his leadership and dedication,” he remarked.
