The Oyo State Government has initiated fresh legal proceedings against Olori Naomi Silekunola, a former wife of the Ooni of Ife, alongside Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of an Ibadan-based radio station, and Mr. Abdulahi Fasasi, Principal of Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan.

The new case, registered under charge number I/05C/2025, was filed at the state High Court on Friday, January 10, 2025.

The 18-count indictment accuses the trio of conspiracy to commit felony murder, manslaughter, and criminal negligence, with charges based on Section 324 of the Criminal Code, CAP 38, Vol II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. The prosecution provided the names and details of 14 of the reported 35 victims connected to the incident in the charge sheet.

Today, matters pertaining to the three defendants will be heard in two different courts in Ibadan. An Oyo State High Court is set to rule on their bail application, while a Chief Magistrate’s Court will be hearing the case after having previously ordered their detention at the Agodi Correctional Centre. Justice K.B. Olawoyin, presiding over Court 8 at the Oyo State High Court in Ring Road, Ibadan, has scheduled the bail ruling for Monday, January 13, 2025.
