The Delta State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have exchanged heated words over speculation that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

The APC, through its State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, dismissed the rumour, asserting that the party is “not a rehabilitation camp for failed politicians” and is uninterested in affiliations motivated by personal gains. The statement criticized Governor Oborevwori’s administration, describing it as marked by underperformance, public discontent, and a failure to deliver significant development.

While acknowledging the governor’s occasional commendations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s developmental efforts, the APC accused him of mismanaging the state’s resources despite receiving over N50 billion in monthly federal allocations.

“Governor Oborevwori’s administration has failed to meet the expectations of Deltans,” the APC stated. “We are focused on offering visionary leadership to bring sustainable development to Delta State.”

In response, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, Delta State Commissioner for Information, dismissed the APC’s claims as baseless. He accused the party of resorting to propaganda out of desperation.

“The Delta APC is gripped by fear and sleeplessness over Governor Oborevwori’s achievements,” Osuoza said. “Their current attempts at unintelligent propaganda will not succeed. Pitifully for them, e no go work.”
