The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has called on Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, to substantiate claims of death threats against him and his family.

Obi recently alleged that his New Year message had led to threats to his life and his family. Reacting to the claims during an appearance on Arise TV, Morka stated that Obi must provide evidence of such threats, insisting that the allegations were unfounded.

During the interview on The Morning Show on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Morka explained that his earlier remarks about Obi were in response to questions regarding criticisms of Obi’s economic policies and political rhetoric.

“If Peter Obi was called a prophet of doom or a voodoo economist, he has it coming to him because he has crossed several lines of truth, end of story,” Morka said. He added that there was nothing in his statements that could be construed as threatening.

“He who alleges must prove,” Morka continued. “If Peter Obi claims he has been threatened, he should supply evidence of those threats. For someone of his stature, it’s not enough to make vague claims; the law enforcement system should be involved in investigating such serious allegations.”

Morka further dismissed Obi’s accusations, accusing him of spreading falsehoods. He emphasized that any legitimate threats against Obi’s life should be immediately reported to law enforcement for proper action.
