One of the fourty nine laws of power is never to bite the finger that feeds one. Perhaps the commissioners who claim to be of ijesha extraction are not aware that endorsing a candidate in the name of the State state Government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke is tantamount to bitting the finger of the cool-headed and peace-loving governor, who believes solely in the principle of due process and fair play.
The allegation that the commissioners of ijesha extraction have emeshed themselves in aberration against Osun State chapter of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) customs and tradition is also a pointer to the fact that they are ready to bite the finger of our dear Governor, a man of impeccable character, that detests cheating.
It is crystal clear that NULGE In Osun State is now intimated on the aberration being spare headed by the outgoing president comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe.
Every union has its traditions and customs which are respected and guided jealously by their members. In the history of NULGE in Osun State, succession has always been a family affairs though with democratic contests, not untill now that comrade Ogungbamigbe is trying to set a bad precedence, a type of which has never happened before and is hereby resisted.
NULGE is a union that stands on the pillar of truth and believes in the potentials of Governor Ademola Adeleke and as such, is ready to keep supporting his second term in office. We are grateful for the delivery of good governance by the Governor who has earned for himself, different titles like ‘Mr. Project’, ‘Mr. Performer’, ‘Dancing but Working Governor’, ‘Mr Talk and Do’ among others.
We however want to appeal that the ruling party, especially ,the commissioners from Ijesaland to steer clear of the current succession tussle in the union as doing otherwise may endanger the love of thousands of our respected members for rulling party and at the same time time pitch them against the present administration.
The art of desperation and hunger for power that necessitated the move by comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe to seek endorsement from ijesha extraction commissioners in the name of the State state Government is unwarranted and uncalled for.
The perpetrators are therefore advised to desist from this dastardly act that is capable of showcasing the State Government in the bad light.
They should rather play the game according to its rules as all eyes are now in them.
It is a known fact that there is an established convention in Osun NULGE that makes the position of NULGE President to be occupied by each Senatorial District only once.
This convention has made the succession of NULGE Presidency every four years to be peaceful. Insisting for the second term on the wings of sectional interest because one’s brother is a cabinet member is an aberration and abuse of power. Nulge as a Union and the entire Local Government workers are supporting our Amiable Governor and the Government because of his unprecedented welfare packages for us regardless of geographical differences.
We therefore thank Governor Ademola Adeleke for not allowing himself to be misled into imposing unpopular candidate on the union even though we know that the Commissioners there were involved in the kangaroo endorsement were hoodwinked into such ignoble and inglorious actions.
We plead with the alleged ijesha commissioners in the endorsement of the incumbent NULGE President, Nathaniel Ogungbangbe either directly or by proxy to please dissociate themselves from acts capable of dragging their names in the mud for trying to unsettle the lasting peace and tranquility that NULGE is known for.
Lastly, if Comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe wants to disrupt the already existing norms and traditions of NULGE, agreement on ground, he should not include or involve the performing Governor senator Ademola Adeleke and his respected cabinet members in his act of betrayal. He should tell the members his achievements and be ready to face the ballots and it’s result therefrom. There’s no need to seek reelection through the back door.
The good people from Ijesha know that it is the turn of another zone to produce the next NULGE president.
