A 40-year-old man from Ebonyi, named Joshua Nwafor, has reportedly killed his wife, Charity, following a disagreement over a tuber of yam in Nsokkara, located in the Ezza South Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the tragic event unfolded in the couple’s home, where they had coexisted harmoniously for 17 years. An eyewitness recounted that tensions arose when Joshua intended to cook yam for the family, while Charity insisted on having roasted yam and proceeded to roast it herself.
The conflict escalated when Joshua, in a fit of anger, pulled his wife into their bedroom, locked the door, and assaulted her, resulting in her death.
DSP Joshua Ukandu, the Public Relations Officer for the Ebonyi State Police, confirmed the incident and condemned the violent act, promising that a comprehensive investigation would be undertaken and that the suspect would face legal repercussions.
