Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has received accolades for his exemplary leadership since taking office in 2019.
His efforts include the significant appointment of journalists to prominent roles within his administration.
The commendation came from Senior Adviser and Counselor Alh Saadu Salahu during his keynote address at a strategic seminar held for government press secretaries on Thursday at the Ministry of Communication’s conference hall in Ilorin. The seminar, themed “Propagation and Documentation of Government Policies and Programs: Renewed Roles of Press Secretaries,” was organized by the Sardauna Ilorin Legacy Platform (SILEP) in collaboration with the Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Saluha expressed pride in the governor being the first to appoint a remarkable number of media professionals in his administration’s history. He stated, “Governor AbdulRazaq has set a benchmark in appointing journalists, earning recognition from credible local and international organizations for his commendable governance in areas like transparency, accountability, education, health, socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, and urban renewal.”
He encouraged press secretaries to embrace their roles and stay updated with contemporary practices to excel in their careers. “Public relations is one of the most fulfilling professions today. By joining the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and pursuing continuous training and networking, you can maximize your career opportunities,” he advised participants.
In his closing remarks, Salahu expressed gratitude to the seminar’s organizers and congratulated attendees, urging them to draw inspiration for their professional growth.
Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alh AbdulRazaq Jiddah, also encouraged press secretaries to effectively communicate the governor’s accomplishments. Alh Tunde Akanbi, Chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara State, noted the citizens’ appreciation for the governor’s extensive progress across various sectors.
