A prominent chieftain of the Kwara State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Bukoye Marooph Bintinlaye, has empowered 200 youths and women in Offa Local Government Area with financial grants to support small businesses.
The event, held on December 14, 2024, at the PDP Secretariat in Itafa, Offa, was organized to commemorate the 62nd birthday of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), the President of the 8th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Bintinlaye emphasized his commitment to uplifting small business owners in Offa, noting that the empowerment aligns with his personal philosophy of quiet but impactful community support.
“This initiative is a personal commitment between me and God, not a spectacle for public recognition.
“While this is not my first empowerment program, it holds special significance as it coincides with the celebration of Dr. Bukola Saraki’s birthday. It also serves as a reminder that the PDP remains active and committed to development in Offa,” he said.
He revealed that the beneficiaries, selected randomly, received cash grants to boost their businesses.
He also hinted at plans to extend similar initiatives to Oyun Local Government and other areas in Kwara South, encouraging other PDP stakeholders to emulate his efforts.
Addressing party members, Hon. Jide Jatto, Chairman of PDP Ward Chairmen in Offa, reiterated the party’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and community development.
He commended Hon. Bintinlaye for his visionary leadership and urged other party leaders to contribute to the growth of the community.
A party dignitary also highlighted Offa’s political significance, praising the PDP’s performance in recent local government elections.
He expressed optimism regarding the ongoing court case challenging the results of the elections, expressing confidence that the PDP would reclaim its mandate.
One of the beneficiaries, a young businesswoman, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Bintinlaye for the financial support, describing it as a transformative opportunity for her enterprise.
The event was graced by several PDP dignitaries, including Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyment), the Kwara PDP Publicity Secretary; Hon. Bisi Fakayode, Kwara South Senatorial PDP Chairman; Princess Adesoye Olabisi Adedoyin, Offa PDP Vice Chairmanship Candidate in the last local government elections; Chief Mrs. Margaret Adetunde, the PDP Senatorial Women Leader; and other party executives.
This empowerment initiative not only celebrates the legacy of Dr. Saraki but also reinforces the PDP’s dedication to uplifting communities and fostering economic growth across Kwara State.
