Luigi Mangione has been identified by police as a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare.

The 26-year-old, originally from Towson, Maryland, was apprehended in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after being spotted by a McDonald’s employee. He was found in possession of a firearm, a silencer, and a manifesto expressing disdain for the healthcare system.

Mangione has not yet been charged in connection with Thompson’s death but is currently facing firearms charges.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed his arrest, stating, “At this time, he is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen targeted murder of Brian Thompson.”

Thompson was shot and killed in Midtown Manhattan last week before a scheduled work conference.

UnitedHealthcare is one of the largest health insurers in the United States.
