The Olofa of Offaland, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II, was honoured at the University of Ilorin during its Maiden Faculty of Agriculture Alumni Day Celebration on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
The event, themed “Setting the Pace for Alumni and Community Engagements,” was organized by the Faculty of Agriculture to reconnect alumni with their alma mater, foster collaboration between academia and industry, and celebrate the achievements of distinguished alumni and contributors to agriculture.
The event, held at the University’s Main Auditorium, recognized the monarch for his outstanding contributions to agricultural development and his enduring commitment to community empowerment.
Represented by Chief Moshood Hussein Adeniyi, the Asoju Oba Of Offaland, the monarch expressed his gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his dedication to advancing agricultural initiatives that drive sustainable growth and empower the youth.
Speaking on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Chief Adeniyi remarked, “This recognition underscores the importance of agriculture in our nation’s development. The Olofa remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster innovation, sustainability, and growth within the sector.”
In his address, Chief Adeniyi also conveyed the Olofa’s call for greater collaboration between academia and stakeholders in addressing the challenges of agriculture.
He encouraged alumni to leverage their expertise and resources to advance innovation, sustainability, and food security.
The recognition of the Olofa of Offaland during this historic event underscores his pivotal role as a leader, advocate, and champion of agricultural development.
Prominent dignitaries at the event included: Dr. Augustina Olajumoke Ojo, Life President of the 1988 Alumni Set, as the Keynote Speaker; Senator Saliu Mustapha, who delivered a goodwill message; Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, as the Chief Host and Prof. Oluyemisi B. Fawole, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, among other dignitaries.
